Kumbi College a Co-educational Govt. Aided College, accredited by NAAC with ‘B’ grade with CGPA of 2.42, established on 27th September 1981 with moral, physical, and financial support from local public to impart quality-based higher education to the students of this economically and educationally backward area of the State. The College registered under society’s registration act XXI of 1860 and included section 2(f) & 12B of the UGC. The College is affiliated to Manipur University offers a 2-year (10+2) Higher Secondary and 4-year Undergraduate Program in both Arts and Science streams in 17 Disciplines.

The College is located in a peaceful area of 5.92 acres of serene green land at Lairam Tolomba, Kumbi, Bishnupur District at a distance of about 55 km from the State capital, Imphal. It is a quiet place where there is calm atmosphere for peaceful study along with scenic beauties in and around the locality. The College is 8 km only away from the Loktak, the second largest freshwater lake in the country. More interestingly, the world famous Keibul Lamjao National Park, the only natural habitat of Sangai (Brow Antlered Deer) is also at a distance of 4 km.

The College has well-furnished classrooms with ICT facilities, Laboratories, Computer Lab, Digitized Library, Indoor Stadium, Women’s Hostel, Canteen standing within the campus under the surveillance of CCTV cameras with Wi-Fi and LAN facilities. The College has an Academic Committee, which monitors the curriculum delivery with the support of the IQAC, including the teachers-in-charges of all departments and structures the broad plan for the academic sessions in tune with the Academic Calendar of Manipur University.

The College provides equal admission facility for both boys and girls without any discrimination of caste, creed, and religion and assigned equal weightage to participate in Youth Festivals, Sports Competitions, Seminars, Workshops, Extension Activities, and Awareness Programs conducted by the College and other Institutions.

The College Legal Aid Clinic and NSS Units are always keen for sensitive to gender issues, professional ethics, sustainability, human values and take the vital role for integrating the awareness like waste disposal, rainwater harvesting, and environmental pollution.

The College encouraged the students in teaching-learning process through field studies, project works, laboratory works, group discussions, debates, quizzes and to access e-books, e-journals through        N-List.

The College has an examination committee, which takes care for effective and timely conduct of the internal assessment as per the regulation of Manipur University to assess the weightage of the students by internal evaluation through components like attendance, classroom performance, and participation in extra-curricular & co-curricular activities. The envisaged vision and mission of the College is to impart quality-based education to backward rural students to enable them become morally and intellectually worthy citizens of the country for peaceful and harmonious co-existence.
